On Tuesday 7 February, Bromsgrove International School hosted the TISAC Senior Choral Day in the state-of-the-art Oriental Siam Performing Arts Centre. Over 130 students from Bromsgrove, St. Andrew’s (Sukhumvit 71), Wells, Regent’s, St. Stephen’s Bangkok Prep, and Bangkok Christian international schools attended the event and formed the 2017 TISAC Senior Choir. Throughout the day, these students rehearsed a number of choral works, which they had not seen before, ready to perform in the Gala Concert that afternoon.
After arriving at Windsor Park, the students were sent into sectional rehearsals for sopranos, altos and baritones, led by a selection of staff from the Bromsgrove and the visiting schools. After a break, all students were gathered in the auditorium for a full choir rehearsal, putting all skills developed from their sectional time into practice. Following a lunch break, the full choir completed a sound check, ready to perform for parents, guests and Primary students in the Gala Concert.
The concert began with the TISAC Senior Choir performing the Royal Anthem, conducted by Mr Meddows-Taylor. Ms Frisbie then led the choir through a traditional choral work called In The Name Of Music. A new feature of the concert this year was performances from individual choirs from the visiting schools. St Andrew’s Girls Choir started this section off with Winter Carol, under the direction of Ms Orton. Thank You For The Music was then sung by Bangkok Prep, led by Ms Kellner, before Bromsgrove Secondary Choir performed I Will, directed and accompanied by Ms Alice. To finish the concert, the full choir returned to the stage to perform the traditional Irish tune Belle Of Belfast and the beautiful song by Leonard Cohen, Halleluja.
I would like to this opportunity to thank and congratulate all students and staff who were involved with this fantastic day of music, for making it such a success.
Jeremy Meddows-Taylor, Head of Music, Bromsgrove International School Thailand (BIST)
